Chainsaw Courses

All personal protective equipment, chainsaws and fuel are provided for these courses.

RIT Chainsaw Training
This is a two day course. The first day is in a classroom and the second day is in the forest. What you will learn:
* Chainsaw safety and safe work procedures.
* How to conduct a hazard assessment, stem, and site assessment.
* Six different types of binds and which cuts to use on each. 
* How to maintain and file the chainsaw, proper posture and how to preventing fatigue
* How to cut timber and avoid getting your chainsaw stuck.
* How to safely remove saplings up to 6” and hung up saplings.

Western Arborist Association (WAA)
Advanced Chainsaw Operator Training

This is a chainsaw course for all arborists and ground crews. It is the prerequisite to get your arborist falling endorsement. What you will learn:
* Chainsaw safety, safe work procedures, hazard assessment, stem and site assessment.
* Six binds, chainsaw maintenance, filing the chainsaw, posture and preventing fatigue
* How to cut timber and avoid getting your chainsaw stuck.
* How to remove saplings up to 6”
* How to safely remove a hung up sapling.

CAGC Level One Chainsaw Basics Course
This is a 3 day course with a maximum of 8 students. The first day is in the classroom and the second and third day are in the forest. The course includes:
* How to conduct a hazard assessment, stem assessment and site assessment.
* Chainsaw handling and how to maintain and file a chainsaw.
* Demonstration, practice and evaluation.
All personal protective equipment is provided (those who prefer to bring their own PPE are welcome to do so).
